The team management will decide the next process, how they will move forward and how they will start the process of Shakib Al Hasan’s inclusion in the team after holding a discussion with the head coach after his arrival in Bangladesh ahead of the Sri Lanka Test series.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu made the comment at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur today.

Nannu said they can’t tell anything about it for which all have to wait till then.

“I will not tell anything about it (process of Shakib’s inclusion in the team) at this moment because the team management will decide how they will do,” said Minhajul Abedin.

“His ban will remain till October (28). Therefore, what will be done? I can’t tell anything about it before the arrival of the head coach,” Nannu told the media.

Head coach Russell Domingo along with other coaching staff is supposed to come here in Bangladesh to join the team prior to the important Test series against the island nation. National team’s physiotherapist and trainer meanwhile arrived in Dhaka and remained at home quarantine after their arrival.

When asked about Shakib’s captaincy issue, BCB Chief Selector said they can’t tell anything about captaincy issues as they didn’t deal with the matter.

“It’s a matter of the Bangladesh Cricket Board to decide the captaincy. It does not come from our selector’s panel,” he replied.

“We are coming to give our time to the players. This time we will also give it to them. We have to give our attention to those who have talent unless it will be tough for us to find the talented players. Thereafter, if we have self-confidence in players, if we have trust in them, if the players can play with responsibility it’ll be good for the country and team as well. It’ll also be better for their career.”

The chief selector said they have a pace-bowling line-up of 4-5 bowlers from where they choose bowlers in the need of the team combination.

“There are some pace bowlers whom we are preparing for Test cricket. There is a list of 4-5 bowlers from where we pick and let them have a chance to play,” he said.

“Due to the team combination, we allow two pace bowlers to play in the subcontinent. We think of three pacers when we go out of the conditions. The combination is ready after holding discussion with the team management,” he also said.

“Thereby, I think we have every ability to play with three pacers. We have that confidence,” he concluded.
