Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations chairman Akram Khan said on Monday that the final decision over the Sri Lanka tour will finalise in the coming week.

Akram said that they have sent a proposal to the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) inserting all the matters which are yet to come to them from the island nation.

“Talks between the BCB and the SLC are going on about the new schedule and number of games along with its formats of the Sri Lanka tour although so far nothing has been finalized,” said Akram Khan.

“Hopefully within the four-days, everything will be final,” Akram told Cricfrenzy.com.

Earlier both were scheduled to play a three-Test series only. But this time they are also trying to add some extra matches in the new discussion that started after the suspension, said the Cricket Operations chairman.

“That proposal has also been made to the Lankan board,” he said adding that they are looking to play some practice matches as well as try to include ODI’s or T20’s in their tour, though nothing is finalized yet.

The tour between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was scheduled to take place in August-September but Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) proposed to play it in July while Bangladesh are yet to start its cricketing activities amid the COVID-19 devastation.

Later both the boards mutually suspended the tour towards the end of June because of the players’ unwillingness to travel without any preparation, travel restrictions and many other reasons when Asia Cup and ICC World T20 were not declared postponed by the two cricket apex entities.

BCB is trying to reschedule their suspended tour with its Sri Lanka counterpart board after the postponement of the ICC World T20 and Asia Cup so that they can make their much-needed comeback in international cricket after a lengthy corona break.

Along with that, the BCB has also been attempting to increase the number of games on two different formats of games beside their scheduled games of Tests series that are a part of ICC World Test Championship (WTC).

“We’re focusing on playing more practice matches as our players were away from all sorts of games of cricket after a long period of time. We want to go there at least 12 more days before the tour so that our players can prepare well.  The Players can burst into international matches taking good preparation,” Akram, who is also an executive board director of the BCB, said.

“We wanted to play some warm-up matches before the series started so that our cricketers could be well prepared. In addition to the Test series, we also want to play some limited-over international matches. It could be an ODI, it could be a T20. We will be able to say about it when the discussion will be final,” he concluded.
