The opening match will see defending champions Mohammedan SC face off against newcomers Mirpur Boys Cricket Club at 9 AM in Mirpur. The new team will be led by Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty.
Speaking to the media, Joty highlighted the challenges faced by women cricketers due to a lack of consistent match time. "Female cricketers often face injustice because we don't always get to play regular cricket. This is my first league match in Mirpur since 2011. If we don't get enough domestic matches, players struggle to push themselves and compete at the national level," she said.

Calling the DPL a crucial tournament, Joty emphasized its importance ahead of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers.
"This tournament is very important for us because the World Cup qualifiers are coming up. During our recent four-day training camp, we were all advised to use this league as preparation for the qualifiers," she added.
