Tri-series win inspires Kane Richardson in England

With the likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood ruled out of the upcoming ODI series due to injuries, Australia’s pace attack will be up to a junior quintet when they take on England.
Australia suffered a 4-1 defeat in their last ODI series, which was also against England. Then they went on to win a T20 tri-series that also involved England and New Zealand. In that triangular series, Australia’s fast-bowling line-up comprising Andrew Tye, Kane Ricahrdson, and Billy Stanlake was impressive in absence of the key pacers who were heading to South Africa for Test preparations.
The three seamers will now team up with Jhye Richardson and uncapped Michael Neser to build the Aussie pace attack with Kane being the most experienced among the five as he has played 15 ODIs.
“That's what I thought about on the plane over, it's actually quite a similar team to the one in the T20s that beat England and New Zealand,” Richardson reportedly said. “Although we're inexperienced we've done pretty well as an attack together. That's all we are thinking about. You get confidence when you're together, and you're young and you do well.
“Those guys, especially Billy (Stanlake), would have taken so much out of that tournament. AJ (Tye) is quite a senior bowler in terms of international and domestic cricket so there's guys in our team full of confidence.”

The five-ODI series in England will serve as a dress rehearsal for the ICC World Cup 2019 in UK. Kane is certainly not concerned about getting selected for that tournament by excelling in the upcoming series.
“Those three guys are going to be back at some stage,” he said about the injured trio. “It's all about doing as much as you can when you're given the opportunity.
“Whether that means you get picked in the World Cup squad it's probably irrelevant, you just try and do your best and take as many wickets as you can. That's all I've really thought about.”
This will be Justin Langer, Tim Paine, and Aaron Finch’s first assignment in their new roles. The Aussies will undoubtedly have a point to prove following the reformation of the side after the ball-tampering incident.
The first ODI of the five-match series is scheduled to start on June 13. Both teams will also face-off each other in a one-off T20I, which will be held on June 27.
