England squads announced for ODIs against Scotland and Australia

England National Cricket Selectors have announced a 13-man squad ahead of the ODI against Scotland and a 14-man squad for the five-match ODI series against Australia.

The squads have been named on Wednesday (May 30) and will be captained by Eoin Morgan who is expected to recover from a fractured finger before the one-off ODI against Scotland on June 10.

Jos Buttler has been rested for the Scotland match and Sam Billings has replaced him in the squad. Buttler will return to the squad ahead of the ODI series against Australia, which is scheduled to commence from June 13.

Liam Plunkett has returned to the England squad after missing the ODI series against New Zealand due to a hamstring injury.

England will play in Scotland for the first time since May 2014, when they defeated the hosts by 39 runs in Aberdeen.

The last time Australia faced England in an ODI series, the Kangaroos were handed a 4-1 thrashing by the top ranked ODI team in January. Before the suspension of the disgraced trio following the ball tampering saga, Australia’s tour of England was supposed to be a dress rehearsal for the ICC World Cup next year.

The team has gone through a reformation since that incident with new captains (across the formats) and a new head coach in the setup. Their pace unit will also be up to a junior quintet as Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood will miss the series due to injuries.
