KKR to host Rajasthan in battle for survival

promotional_ad

A great clash is lined up for tonight as the Rajasthan Royals will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League [IPL].

The qualifier between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad last night, resulted in favor of the Chennai-based franchise who’ve qualified for a record seventh final in the lucrative league. The winner of the eliminator will meet SRH on May 25 to decide the second finalist who will be locking horns with CSK on May 27.

SRH hadn’t won against CSK in the league round and again knelt down before them in the qualifier. The league clashes between KKR and RR have also seen the former win both the clashes and RR will be hoping to prevent a repetition of this, because a defeat would knock them out of the tournament.

KKR are unlikely to tinker with a team that has managed to win convincingly in their last home match, which was against the same opponents. Their spin attack had worked greatly in that game and hence, it is unlikely that they would want to bring in Shivam Mavi by sidelining Piyush Chawla.

Predicted XI: Sunil Narine, Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik (c), Shubman Gill, Andre Russell, Prasidh Krishna, Piyush Chawla, Javon Searles, Kuldeep Yadav

Rajasthan Royals

No changes are expected in the Royals’ camp although Jofra Archer could lose his opening spot to Heinrich Klaasen as their most prolific opening batsman, Jos Buttler, had to leave the team due to his international commitments.

Predicted XI: Ajinkya Rahane (c), Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson, Heinrich Klassen (wk), Krishnappa Gowtham, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Stuart Binny, Ish Sodhi, Jaydev Unadkat, Ben Laughlin

Prediction

Since KKR will be playing at their home ground, the Eden Gardens, they’ll surely have an upper hand over the team that hasn’t been able to defeat them in this season so far. However it’s a knockout game and all the records are of no value as only winning this very contest will determine who remains in the fray.
