Afridi rules himself out of the World XI-Windies T20I

After Shakib Al Hasan, former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi has deemed himself unavailable for the charity match between World XI and West Indies. The game is scheduled to take place at the Lord’s, on May 31.
While the Bangladesh ace all-rounder – who is currently playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) – has pulled out of the game citing personal reasons, Afridi has ruled himself out of the contest due to a knee-injury that will take three to four weeks for recovery.
“Went to see my doctor in Dubai, the knee hasn’t recovered fully yet. I'll need another 3-4 weeks,” Afridi tweeted on Thursday (May 17).

The charity match has been organized to raise funds for the reconstruction of the venues in the Caribbean islands that were damaged by hurricanes Irma and Maria last year.
The squad includes the likes of Tamim Iqbal, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Rashid Khan, and Thisara Perera and will be captained by Eoin Morgan. Nepal bowler Sandeep Lamichhane has also been added to the team recently.
The last time Shahid Afridi played an international match was back in March 2016 when Pakistan faced Australia in an ICC World T20 game. The all-rounder’s current injury has ruled his brief return to international cricket.
