Runs galore for Central Zone, South Zone off to a solid start

Both the games in the Bangladesh Cricket League [BCL] saw enough progress to come to a close within the next three days.
The game between South Zone and North Zone witnessed the latter getting a taste of their own medicine as the former bundled them out for 187 runs. North Zone did the same in their previous match against East Zone by bowling them out for a poultry total in both the innings.
Is it now the winners’ turn to see the other side of the coin? Only time will tell but it was disappointing to see only two fifties coming from Nazmul Hasan Shanto and Sohrawardi Shuvo while just three other batsmen got into the double-digit scores which added a handful of runs anyway.
It was definitely Abdur Razzak’s expert hands that decked the opponents’ middle-order and also wiped out the tail. The veteran spinner bagged 5 wickets after Saqlain Sajib scalped two wickets. And returning to the league after four long years, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza also joined the hunt by taking a wicket while Kamrul Islam Rabbi also took as many scalps.
South Zone also dealt an early blow as Soumya Sarkar got out on 12 runs. However, two fifties from Anamul Haque Bijoy and Imrul Kayes restored their innings while the batsmen also prevented further wicket-falls and remained unbeaten until the stumps were drawn. They are now just 72 runs behind the opponents’ score.

The other match between Central Zone and East Zone saw the former enjoying a run-galore by picking up 406 runs on the very first day. They also have wickets aplenty as only Sohag Gazi managed to pick up 3 wickets while Abu Jayed got one.
Opener Shadman Islam’s century was accompanied by another magnificent knock of 159 runs from Abdul Mazid. Although the former returned to the pavilion scoring 112 runs, the latter was unfortunate and had to retire hurt.
Shuvagoto Hom and Mosharraf Hossain were at the crease when the umpire called a halt. Shuvagoto clubbed a half-century and will day-two’s play along with the other batsman who is on 7 runs.
