Sachin Tendulkar has recently given Virat Kohli a new incentive to complete a half-century of centuries in One Day Internationals. The little master himself is a centurion of centuries across all international formats and has 49 tons in ODIs.

The India skipper, on the other hand, currently has 35 centuries and 10,000-odd runs in the 50-over format. In less than ten years of international cricket Kohli’s batting genius has already become something to be remembered forever.

Tendulkar has promised to share a bottle of champagne with Kohli should the latter score 50 hundreds in the format. The 29-year-old is widely touted to break most of Tendulkar's records in the ODI cricket, including the Master Blaster’s record of hundreds.

When asked if he would send 50 bottles of champagne to Kohli if the India captain broke his record for most ODI centuries, the former India bastman responded by saying he would take a bottle of champagne to Kohli himself the day his record gets shattered.

“I will go and share a bottle with him if he breaks my record. I won't send him champagne bottles; I will go there and share it with him,” Tendulkar said at the launch of Boria Majumdar's book ‘Eleven Gods and a Billion Indians’, in Mumbai.

On the other hand, speaking at the Kolkata book launch of Eleven Gods and a Billion Indians, Kohli said he understood the impact Tendulkar has had on his career.

“I don't have too many people who are very close to me. That is just the way life has gone on for so many years. Because naturally when someone has stuck by me in tough times, I value that person a lot.

“I continue to do that. The impact he has had in my life growing up.... I understand the importance of it.”
