Injured Mosaddek salvages South Zone some pride


Central Zone, despite getting an upper hand over South Zone in the first two innings, could not manage a positive result as the game ended in a draw.
After getting all-out for 191 runs in the 1st innings, South Zone were trailing by 111 runs against a confident opponent. However, they mounted a great comeback in the 2nd innings and totaled 484 for 8 wickets before declaring their innings.
Mohammad Mithun registered the highest individual innings of 118 runs in the 2nd innings, as well as in the match, which was followed by another magnificent knock from Mosaddek Hossain.
Mosaddek ended the previous day on 22 runs and sustained a shoulder injury as well, reached the triple-digits to give his team a healthy lead. He clubbed 102 runs off 107 deliveries and remained not out.

With little support from Ziaur Rahman and Nayeem Hasan who made 25 and 43 respectively, Mosaddek fought all alone on day-4 and helped South Zone pose a daunting target.
In response, Central Zone posted 158 runs on the scoreboard, losing 5 of their wickets until the game came to a close. Abdul Mazid 60-run knock held the team together when nobody could stand firm against South Zone’s bowling attack.
Abdur Razzak took 3 wickets for South Zone in the 2nd but failed to help his team bag the winning points. He also the highest wicket-taker in the match with 9 wickets under his belt.
