Gambhir retruns to second-home to challenge KKR

Delhi Draedevils seem to have found the rhythm in its squad and will take on a muddled Kolkata Knight Riders side at the Eden Garden on Monday. Gautam Gambhir would surely like to come out on top against the side that has been his home for seven years.

Both teams have lost two and won one of their three games in this tournament so far.

Kolkata Knight Riders

With a bunch of young talents in the side, KKR was supposed to be the team to watch for in this season. However, they have failed to meet the expectations until now and the reason behind their failure is certainly not the substandard performances displayed by the players at times. KKR are suffering to make the right combination in the team which can be specified as the cause here.

After two matches they opted for Shivam Mavi and Shubhman Gill to be included in the starting line-up. Gill was definitely not comfortable with batting down the order and KKR should try to exploit their resources rather than going for unusual batting line-up. They also have U-19 star Ishank Jaggi unused so far.

KKR had some setbacks with Mitchell Starc and Kamlesh Nagrkoti getting injured. After getting defeated in their last match, they are still unlikely to make any changes in the team ahead of the next clash.

Probable XI: Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), Shubman Gill, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Mitchell Johnson, Shivam Mavi, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav

Delhi Daredevils

DD will have an upper hand in this match despite being on the away-side. Their skipper Gautam Gambhir captained KKR for to two IPL triumphs since 2011 and is familiar with the conditions here. So his knowledge would be of great use for DD to set up the team although they are unlikely to break their winning combination. Yet they could go for Jayant Yadav in place of Shabaz Nadeem.

Returning to Kolkata as an opponent for the first time, Gambhir will have a point to prove in front of the crowd that still adores him.

Probable XI: Jason Roy, Gautam Gambhir (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Shreyas Iyer, Vijay Shankar, Daniel Christian, Rahul Tewatia, Jayant Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Trent Boult

Prediction

Although KKR will be hosting the match, Delhi—after having defeated the mighty Mumbai Indians in great fashion—will be confident enough to do what’s required to bag the winning points.
