Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab locked horns at Bengaluru in the 7th encounter of IPL. The home team clinched a comfortable victory over the man led by Ravichandran Ashwin and ended their losing streak at this venue.

Winning the toss RCB decided to bowl first. Their bowling unit worked brilliantly to restrict KXIP to a sub-par 155 runs in 19.2 overs.

Umesh Yadav initiated the damage for Punjab by taking 3 wickets in the 4th over of the game. Then a 58-run partnership between Karun Nair and Lokesh Rahul restored the team’s innings.

Following Rahul’s exit on his score of 47 runs, the Punjab-based franchise experienced another collapse while Ashwin tried to rescue the team. However, lack of support from the other end saw the Punjab skipper getting dismissed on 33 runs.

Chris Woakes, Kulwant Khejroliya, and Washington Sundar bagged 2 wickets each while Yuzvendra Chahal took a scalp for RCB.

Coming on to chase the target, RCB lost an early wicket as Brendon McCullum got out for a duck. Shortly after his departure, Virat Kohli also returned to the pavilion scoring 21 runs after facing a brilliant delivery from Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Then Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers shared a 54-run stand before Ashwin bowled the former batsman out. De Villiers clubbed a splendid half-century and made 57 runs before getting dismissed by Andrew Tye.

With de Villiers leaving the crease in the penultimate over, Mandeep Singh also got dismissed in the same over scoring 22 runs. However, the two new batsmen—Washington Sundar and Chris Woakes steered the team to a victory with 3 balls remaining.

RCB will take on Rajasthan Royals on Sunday and KXIP will face Chennai Super Kings on the same day.
