Rain-marred match sees RR clinch a victory

Delhi Daredevils failed yet again and this time rain had a partial part to play in their misfortune. Rajasthan Royals, however, have maintained their unbeaten streak in home matches against DD.
Winning the toss on Wednesday, DD chose to bowl first. 17.5 overs into the game and rain marred the RR’s innings. The men led by Ajinkya Rahane registered a total of 153 runs for 5 wickets.
The skipper himself opened the innings alongside D’Arcy Short who once again fell victim to a run out. Ben Stokes, coming at no. 3, failed to impress with the bat and returned to the pavilion scoring 16 runs.
Sanju Samson then shared a 62-run stand with Rahane and where he contributed 37 runs. Following his exit, Rahane also left the crease for 45 runs.
Jos Buttler was removed on 29 runs by Mohammad Shami. Trent Boult took one wicket for DD while Shahbaz Nadeem scalped two.

After a long interval, a 71-run target was set for the capital-based franchise in an innings reduced to 6 overs. Surprisingly, Gautam Gambhir, the captain himself, did not come to bat even though his team lost 4 wickets and eventually fell 10 runs short in the contest.
DD’s opening batsman Colin Munro fell victim to a run out for golden duck. Another opener, the new man in the squad—Glenn Maxwell was sent back to the hut by Ben Laughlin on 17 runs. Laughlin later picked up the wicket of Vijay Shankar too.
Rishabh Pant got out by Jaydev Unadkat on 20 runs. On the other hand, Chris Morris’ unbeaten 7-ball 17 runs could not rescue the team in the end.
Delhi will take on Mumbai Indians in their next match on April 14. Rajasthan Royals will visit Bangalore for their next fixture on April 15.
