Liton Das stands firm for East Zone


Central Zone ended day-2 on high in their match against North Zone in the Bangladesh Cricket League [BCL]. They have added 280 more runs to their previous score of 249/3 before getting all-out.
After a century from Shadman Islam on day-1, Marshall Ayub registered another ton on Wednesday before Mosharraf Hossain played an unbeaten knock of 83 runs.
As the game resumed at Bogra, North Zone didn’t have to wait long for a breakthrough as Ariful Haque removed Ccntral Zone skipper Mahmudullah Riyad on 26 runs. The fast-bowler decked the middle-order of the opponents as he later bowled out Irfan Shukkur for a duck and dismissed Ayub on 132 runs.
Ariful took 4 wickets with Farhad Reza also bagging a wicket. Sunzamul Islam took a scalp to complete a tally of two wickets in this innings after he removed Tanbir Hayder on 46.
South Zone, on the other hand, could not add more than 104 runs on the second day and ended up at 403 against East Zone. Nurul Hasan and Delwar Hossain shared a 107-run stand before the latter got trapped lbw by Khaled Mahmud on 63 runs. The same bowler struck again in the same over to dismiss Abdur Razzak for a duck. Khaled returned figures of 4/84 in this innings.

In the next over, Abu Jayed sent Kamrul Islam Rabbi back to the hut for a duck as well to restrict South Zone to 403 runs. Nurul Hasan remained not out on 44 runs.
East Zone also haven’t had a great batting innings so far as they scored 95 for 3 wickets before the umpires called a halt. Opener Liton Das has remained unbeaten on 60 runs as the rest of the batsmen failed to make a mark.
Rabbi scalped two wickets for South Zone while Razzak picked up the other one.
