Royals return home to challenge win-hungry Daredevils

Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils go into their second game licking the wounds after getting defeated in their opening encounters. The Sawai Man Singh stadium at Rajasthan will witness some cricketing actions after five long years. And the city itself will welcome their team home after two years.

The men led by Ajinkya Rahane will put everything at stake to edge past the capital-based franchise. Gautam Gambhir, on the other hand, will also want to clinch his first victory as Delhi captain.

Rajasthan Royals

The Royals had a disappointing start to their campaign as Sunrisers Hyderabad faced no difficulty in desecrating their fortress. Their batting line-up suffered to meet the expectations and crumbled against the clinical opponents in their first game.

Although they don’t have the luxury to play a prolific batsman that they had in Steve Smith, a few changes in the batting order could be more effective for the former champions. Rahul Tripathy could be promoted up the order with Sanju Samson slipping down a place and Ben Stokes going for the finisher’s role.

Having fielded their strongest eleven in the first game, it is highly unlikely for RR to make a change as Jofra Archer is yet to gain full fitness.

Predicted XI: Ajinkya Rahane(c), D Arcy Short, Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Rahul Tripathi, Jos Buttler(w), Krishnappa Gowtham, Shreyas Gopal, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jaydev Unadkat, Ben Laughlin

Delhi Daredevils

Delhi are expected to make a change as Glenn Maxwell is expected to start for the side. That means either Daniel Christian or Chris Morris will have to make way for him.

The rest of the team will remain the same and the onus will be on the likes of Trent Boult and Colin Munro who could not perform up to their level in the previous game.

Probable XI: Gautam Gambhir (c), Colin Munro, Rishabh Pant (wk), Shreyas Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, Vijay Shankar, Chris Morris/Daniel Chrisitan, Rahul Tewatia, Amit Mishra, Mohammed Shami, Trent Boult

Prediction

Since RR will be hosting the clash, they will have the crowd’s support which can be crucial at times. Moreover, they have a strong home record against DD who have not been able to manage an away win against RR since 2012. RR’s winning percentage at this stadium is also over seventy percent which makes the Gambhir-led men’s task seem more difficult.
