The Proteas retain dominance over Australia

South Africa are far ahead of Australia in the fourth Test of the ongoing series. They have finished day-3 with a massive 401 runs’ lead and 7 wickets in hand. The Baggy Greens might have to surpass the highest successful chase in the history of Test cricket once the Proteas are all-out or declare their innings.
A Test series win on home soil since readmission looks very much on the cards for the rainbow nation as they still have two days left in the game to strangle the Kangaroos.
As the Aussies resumed the game on Sunday with their score of 110/6, Pat Cummins and Tim Paine fought bravely against the South African bowling attack to form a 99-run partnership. Cummins picked up his fifty before getting out by Keshav Maharaj.
Australia skipper also picked up his half-century and returned to the pavilion scoring 62 runs after Kagiso Rabada trapped him lbw. Rabada and Maharaj took one more wicket each to put an end to the Australian innings.

In reply, the Proteas amassed 134 runs for 3 wickets before the umpires called a halt. Aiden Markram, who smashed a brilliant century in the previous innings, made 37 runs before Pat Cummins sent him back to the hut. Cummins later picked the wicket of AB de Villiers who made 6 runs.
Hashim Amla was dismissed by Nathan Lyon on 16 runs. Opener Dean Elgar and Proteas skipper Francois du Plessis remained unbeaten on their scores of 39 and 34 runs respectively until the end of the day. They will resume the game on the fourth day and will look forward to stretching the lead further.
Score (after day-3):
