Steyn awaits county stint to return to the national side

South Africa quick Dale Steyn has hardly been able to play in the past two years due to injuries. He has played only one Test for his nation in the last 15 months. He got injured in that very match because of damaging a tissue on his left heel and was ruled out for the remainder of the 3-match series against India in January this year.
He has recently revealed that he is eyeing the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka after completing his county stint with Hampshire following a month's rest during the Indian Premier League [IPL] where the paceman found no takers.
“The Proteas don't play for quite a while,” said Steyn. “I'm going to take another month off. I'm not going to the IPL (Indian Premier League). I'm looking to go over to Hampshire in June to play a little bit of cricket, then Sri Lanka in July."

“I could get through 12 or 15 overs but that’s not enough to be competitive in a Test match,” he added.
South Africa is scheduled to tour Sri Lanka in July and August, and Steyn has an opportunity to play, provided he finds his form and fitness in due course.
The 34-year old has a good chance of becoming the highest wicket-taker for South Africa in Tests. With 419 wickets in 86 games, he is two wickets shy of Shaun Pollock’s tally of 421 wickets in 108 games.
