Hyderabad in talks with Sri Lanka batsman to replace Warner

The disgraceful trio of Aussie skipper Steve Smith, vice-captain David Warner, and opener Cameron Bancroft have been banned by Cricket Australia following their involvement in the recent ball-tampering row. While the later has received a 9-month suspension, the other two players have been handed a year-long ban.
Steve Smith and David Warner, skippers of two different franchises in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, have subsequently stepped down from captaincy after they were stripped of their role in the Aussie side. Their involvement in the Indian Premier League, however, is not going to happen as the BCCI have stayed in tandem with CA's decision and have opted to keep the duo out of the tournament.
While Rajasthan Royals have opted for Ajinkya Rahane to lead the team in place of Smith, Sunrisers Hyderabad are yet to decide their captaincy-replacement. Kiwi captain Kane Williamson and Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan and India opener Shikhar Dhawan's names have come up for the role.

Apart from the captaincy-concern, the team is also looking for a batsman to replace the former Aussie vice-captain, and as sources have confirmed, the Hyderabad-based franchise has approached Kusal Janith Perera as a possible replacement for Banned David Warner with a deal yet to be finalized.
BBC reporter Azzam Ameen tweeted about the ongoing talks between the team and the player.

The Sri Lankan batsman has been in a brilliant form lately. In his last 6 T20I innings, Kusal has smashed 4 fifties.
