Warner's international career under threat

David Warner’s alleged testimony to Cricket Australia’s integrity officers in Cape Town resulted in the Aussie vice-captain being increasingly isolated as the instigator of the ball-tampering incident.
Reports also claimed that Warner has gone rogue since the fallout of the ball-tampering crisis escalated. He has also left the Aussie side’s WhatsApp group. The Australian players are also fed up with the opener and want him ousted from the hotel in which they are staying in.
The left-handed batsman has been a central figure in several controversies since that late-night punch o Joe Root in 2013. Following an investigation by Cricket Australia’s [CA] head of integrity, CA held a teleconference with him and the chief executive James Sutherland, and it has reportedly been confirmed that Warner “is the issue”.
The seriousness of the happenings could result in David Warner becoming the next Kevin Pietersen who was thrown out of the England team back in 2014. And if so, Warner can follow the English batsman and pursue other opportunities in the T20 leagues. Then again, will the T20 league sides welcome him after all that has happened?

According to Sunrisers Hyderabad mentor VVS Laxman, the Hyderabad-based franchise will disclose their judgment regarding Warner’s future in the team depending on CA’s decision.
“It’s very unfortunate what has happened in the Cape Town Test. As far as Sunrisers is concerned, it’s too early for us to comment. Because, it was, just which has happened the day before yesterday. We will wait for the decision of Cricket Australia,” Laxman reportedly said.
With that being the case, it is not only Warner who is facing a crisis in his career, Darren Lehmann is also facing scrutiny and could soon announce his resignation as Australia’s head coach.
In that case, Ricky Ponting, Australia’s leading run-scorer and most successful skipper, could replace Lehmann after his successful stint with the Aussie T20 team. Justin Langer and Jason Gillespie are also the contenders for the coaching spot.
On the other hand, Queensland opener Matthew Renshaw has been added to Australia’s Test squad and will fly to South Africa for Friday’s fourth Test. Renshaw was replaced by Bancroft for this summer’s Ashes series and with Steve Smith banned for the next Test and the two openers under the microscope, it is still unclear that who will be replaced by him.
