Bangladesh eyeing Kirsten as team consultant

There have been speculations about South African legend Gary Kirsten’s becoming the next head coach of the Bangladesh national team. However, it has been confirmed by the BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus that Kirsten may take on the batting consultant role for the Tigers.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon had said that the former India coach would join the team as a batting consultant outside his other [BBL & IPL] roles in December last year.

“He [Kirsten] is available in the time outside his other roles,” said Papon. “At this point, both sides are interested in the [consultancy] role. He will have an overall role in the development of Bangladesh cricket. It might be for six months, but it is hard to pinpoint these things without talking to him first. He is probably coming after February.”
Although the BCB spokesperson has reportedly informed that a deal is still being worked out but as yet nothing is finalized, it is expected that the World Cup-winning coach will soon join the Bangladesh team once his role as the batting-consultant or the team-consultant is confirmed.
Apart from the Indian team, Kirsten also had a coaching stint with South Africa. He has also coached Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League [BBL] and will be performing the role of the batting head coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League [IPL].
