‘Hathurusingha made me realize my flaws’ - Mominul

In a recent interview with Cricketsoccer.com, Bangladesh batsman Mominul Haque has acknowledged that former Bangladesh coach Hathurusingha made him realize his flaws. He also said that his celebration following his century against Sri Lanka in January wasn’t meant to convey any message to anyone.
“It was Hathurusingha who made me realise my flaws. I take it positively. I believe that getting dropped was a good thing for me. It made me hungrier for success. I became more confident.
“That phase was like a purifier in my career, which dragged out most of the weaknesses. But to be honest, I followed the tips of my personal Coach and overcame all the odds.”
In the same clash against Sri Lanka, Mominul became the first Bangladeshi batsman to score centuries in both innings of a Test match. Had he not scored a century in the 2nd innings, the Tigers might have lost that game.

“It was a very exciting moment. If I didn’t score hundred in the second innings of the match, we might have lost the test. I am happy that I can contribute for the cause of the team.”
When asked about his inconsistent appearance in the limited-overs squad, Mominul admitted that the poor start in his ODI career is the reason behind it. He also revealed that he is positive to make a comeback into the ODI side.
“Maybe it’s because of the fact that I didn’t have a great start in my One Day international career. I scored only 3 fifties while in Test, I scored big.
“I am very hopeful of making a comeback into the ODI team. I am working harder. Let’s hope for the best,” said Mominul.
“I personally feel that I am still new in international cricket and I have to learn a lot,” Mominul said while describing his journey in international cricket.
Regarding the achievements in his six-year-long career, Mominul said, “To be able to represent the Bangladesh national team is obviously my biggest achievement. Not many people get this opportunity. I want to contribute for my country. That is the biggest motivation for me.
