The search is still on for a new head coach for the Tigers as Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] hasn’t been able to come up with a name yet. Bangladesh bowling coach Courtney Walsh was the interim head coach of the team and led the side to a brilliant comeback as the Men in Red & Green reached the final of the Nidahas Trophy by knocking the hosts out of the tournament.

BCB president had suggested that a new head coach will be named by April. However, Khaled Mahmud thinks that Courtney Walsh can be the successor of Chandika Hathurusingha.

According to Bangladesh team’s technical director Khaled Mahmud, Walsh should be appointed as the permanent head coach of Bangladesh national team.

“We had everything except for a leader who could make the right decision,” said Mahmud. “My suggestion would be to make him the head coach. He is a great person. He is a very honest man as well. He gave the team great support in Sri Lanka. He encouraged the team. There is no point talking about his experience, he has been in this game for 40 years now.”

“He is like a fatherly figure (to the team). The most important thing is that everyone in the team likes him very much. All in all, he was very good in the last series,” Mahmud added
