Tamim's Zalmi eliminate Riyad's Quetta

After being the runner-up in the Nidahas Trophy Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad flew to Lahore to play in the Eliminator 1.
After winning five matches and losing the same number of clashes each, both teams advanced to the playoffs. Quetta and Peshawar faced each other twice in the group stages and both came out victorious once each.
Winning the toss, Quetta decided to bowl first against Peshawar at Lahore on Tuesday. Peshawar collected 157 runs losing all their wickets.
Tamim scored 27 runs and provided enough support to Mohammad Hafeez after they lost two quick wickets. Hafeez made 25 off 14 before Mahmudullah sent him back to the hut. Following his exit, Tamim also returned to the pavilion as Mohammad Nawaz got him out.
However, Liam Dawson fought back against Quetta's bowling attack and amassed 62 runs to take the total to a good position. The rest of the batsmen could not make their mark as Rahat Ali strangled Zalmi's batting lineup by scalping 4 wickets including that of Dawson.
Mir Hamza and Hasan Khan also took a wicket each while Thisara Perera picked up 2 wickets.
In reply, Quetta also did not have a good start as Hasan Ali struck twice, getting rid of the openers—Asad Shafiq and Tom Kohler-Cadmore. The next to batsman, Mohammad Nawaz and Sarfaraz Ahmed, made 35 runs each and share a 63-run stand to restore Quetta's innings. Both of them were dismissed by Sameen Gul.

Rilee Rossouw could not manage to make more than 8 runs before Umaid Asif bagged his wicket. The same bowler bowled Mahmudullah out on 19 runs. Wahab Riaz then dismissed Thisara Perera and Hasan Khan.
Quetta Gladiators kept losing wickets as the target came closer and ended up scoring 156 runs for 9 wickets.
Peshawar Zalmi will take on Karachi Kings in the Eliminator 2 on Wednesday and the winner of that match will face Islamabad United in the final match of PSL 2018.
