Newly-appointed captain of the Delhi Daredevils, Gautam Gambhir, has lauded the addition of former Australian captain, Ricky Ponting, to the Delhi franchise. According to the former Kolkata Knight Riders’ captain, Punter’s experience can help the Daredevils reach the pinnacle of glory.

“I think Ricky Ponting is coming to a winning group, three times he has been a part of a World Cup-winning team. As a player and as a captain he has seen ups and downs.”

Since Ponting was a winning captain for Australia and had a mentality that was unparalleled among his peers, his tendency to achieve victories might rub off on the Daredevils’ unit.

“He has captained Australia for a very long time. It is important for any player if a winner comes to your side. He has seen every kind of situation and knows how to take best out of any player. It is an advantage for any captain if a coach like him comes to the team.”

The Indian Premier League will begin on the 7^th of April with Delhi Daredevils entering the competition as one of the most favourites to win it.
