Bangladesh just one short of a shameful half-century

Bangladesh team have become better and more mature over the course of a decade. They have become a difficult side to face, especially in their own backyard.
While the players have bagged some impressive individual records such as being the youngest player to score a hundred (Mohammad Ashraful), taking hat-trick and scoring a century in Test (Sohag Gazi), taking a hat-trick on ODI debut (Taijul Islam), the Tigers also had some disgraceful records to their name as a team. And one such record is Bangladesh jointly being the side with the most number of defeats in T20Is.
Bangladesh have lost a total of 49 matches in the shortest form of international cricket. The other two sides to have suffered the same fate are New Zealand and Sri Lanka. The Kiwis have actually lost 52 matches with three of those being in a tie-breaker.
Sri Lanka faced as many defeats as Bangladesh after playing 105 T20Is whereas it took only 72 matches for the perennial minnows to lose 49 matches. So, technically, Bangladesh are just one short of a shameful half-century in T20Is and considering their recent form, that defeat might come in the ongoing Nidahas Trophy.

The Men in Red & Green have also conceded the highest opening partnership in the history of Test cricket as Graeme Smith and Neil McKenzie shared a 415-run stand against them in 2008. Among such records, there remains the highest losing streak for Bangladesh in Tests as they lost a total of 21 matches after becoming a Test-playing nation.
Bangladesh also holds the first three spots for the longest losing streak in ODIs by maintaining a string of 23, 22 and 18 losses at three different periods between 1986 and 2003. The 23-game sequence was actually followed by another four defeats with a no-result in-between, then another no result and then Bangladesh's 18 game losing sequence. Overlooking these no-results, Bangladesh's 23 game losing sequence and 18 game losing sequence combine with the intervening four defeats into a single losing streak of 45 matches.
One of New Zealand’s win against Bangladesh in ODIs in 2007 also remains in the greatest win margins (by balls remaining) as the Black Caps successfully chased down 93 runs in just 6 overs and sealed the match with 264 balls remaining. Bangladesh failed to chase down 105 runs against India in 2014 which made it the 3rd lowest total to have been successfully defended.
Despite all these records, Bangladesh’s poor form in the 20-overs game reflects the most as their number of wins (21) in that format is less than half of their number of defeats (49). Currently, they are on a five-game losing streak in this format.
