‘Bangladesh coach has been decided’ – Papon

The president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board has revealed
that the next coach of Bangladesh has been signed. Indeed, according to the
outspoken Papon, who never minces his words, the board will reveal the name of
the coach on the first week of April.
Currently, Courtney Walsh has been bestowed with the honour
of coaching the Bangladesh team in an interim role. The West Indian legend is
the regular bowling coach of the country, but has taken over the reins of head
coach for the Nidahas trophy.

Papon’s words, however, mean that Walsh might not be given
the role on a full-time basis and that the new coach is popular figure,
something which Hathurusingha wasn’t when he arrived to coach the Tigers.
“We have finalised our head coach. He is expected to join
the Bangladesh team by the first week of April. I am not going to reveal the
name right now but I can say he is a well-known figure, not someone unknown
like Hathurusingha,” Papon revealed.
