India quick Mohammad Shami who is currently playing in the Deodhar Trophy has been accused of domestic violence and extramarital affair by his wife, Hasin Jahan. The couple has been married for four years now. Shami’s wife recently posted screenshots of his alleged conversations with multiple women on her Facebook account.

However, Shami has denied the claims with a tweet that reads: “I deny all that is going on regarding my personal life. This is a conspiracy against me and it is being done to hamper my game.”

Jahan's lawyer Zakir Hussain reportedly said, “She is giving it some time. So we will wait a bit before taking any legal action.

Earlier, BCCI announced the Annual Player Contracts for the time period from October 2017 to September 2018 which include a new A+ category for the cricketers playing across all three formats. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Jasprit Bumrah were part of the newly added category. Players in the A+ group will take away INR 7 crore (USD 1 million approx).

MS Dhoni, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane were included in the A category after having been among the best paid Indian cricketers last year. However, their retainer still went up from INR 2 crore (USD 300,000 approx) last year to INR 5 crore (USD 770,000 approx).

“The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) for BCCI on Wednesday announced the Annual Player Contracts for the period from October 2017 to September 2018. The CoA was of the view that the performance and position of Indian Cricket needs to be recognized with the fee structure comparable to the best in the world,” the BCCI wrote in a statement.

Mohammad Shami, despite enjoying his career-best performance and playing a vital role in India’s only Test win against South Africa in the last series, was left out of BCCI’s central contract list following the allegations of adultery and domestic violence. He was not among the 26 players who have been offered a contract.

“The BCCI has taken cognizance of all the reports emerging about Mohammed Shami's personal life. It is purely a personal matter and the BCCI has nothing to do with it. However, keeping in mind that the woman in question has met the police commissioner of Kolkata, it is only prudent on BCCI's part to wait for any official inquiry to take place,” a BCCI official reportedly stated.

“Hence Mohammed Shami's name, for the time being, has been withheld from the central contracts that were announced today. We would like to reiterate this decision has nothing to do with Shami's merit as a player but a safeguard in the prevailing circumstances,” he added.
