Salman Butt is a name that is familiar to many – but for the wrong reasons. The stylish batsman was banned from all forms of cricket for his participation in the spot-fixing scandal, but has now returned to the domestic circuit after finishing the ban period.

And now, his form in the domestic circuit has given birth to the whispers that suggest a place for him the national team once again. Butt also, meanwhile, hopes to play for the national team once again and it is for this reason that he is working with diligence.

“I want to utilise my form and fitness for Pakistan team. The motivation to play [international cricket] again keeps me going,” he said while talking to Geo News.

“I have been working extremely hard for the past seven years to prove myself.”

Butt, however, was bemused at the fact that the selectors have overlooked him thus far despite his great form in the domestic circuit.

“I have been performing consistently in domestic cricket. I don’t know why I am still not given a chance.”

It seems as though Salman Butt doesn’t fathom the true meaning of trust and the concept of how it works. Trust is like a mirror, once you break it, there is no rejoining it. With Salman Butt’s betrayal of the national team, it won’t be so easy for him to get back to the squad as the dressing room harmony should also be considered here.

However, if he keeps on playing well, then there could be a chance to see him in the Pakistan XI once again – but that looks like a far-fetched scenario as of now.
