South African legend warns India

India might be on form – albeit their batting has got a pasting by the hands of Sri Lankan bowlers as I write this – and have desecrated the Sri Lankans in the Test series. However, Graeme Smith has warned the Indian team that they will have to be on their toes against the Proteas.

The former captain is of the opinion that the bowlers of India must have to perform optimally should they have a chance against South Africa.

“The pace and skills of our bowlers here will be the real test for them. It will be really interesting,” Smith said.

“India's own pace attack will also have to do well in order for them to have success here.”

Meanwhile, India U19 coach, Rahul Dravid, is hopeful that the team will do well due to the strength in depth of the squad. He also added that the current batch of pacers are great at what they do and have the privilege of playing two quality spinners in Ravi Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin.

"I am looking forward to the next couple of months in cricket and watching the Indian team playing in South Africa and I believe that they are going to do well,"

"I think we have a great chance this time looking at the depth of the current side,” he said.

“We have got some quality quicks, we have the opportunity of playing the all-rounder (Hardik Pandya) if we need to.

"We have got quality spinners in (Ravindra) Jadeja and (Ravichandran) Ashwin. What also excites me is that all our batsmen have been to South Africa before and they have the experience of 40-50 Tests.

However, Dravid also added that a bit of luck is also necessary in order to get the better of the South Africans.

"Having said that, you do need a bit of luck in those conditions, bit of rub of the green. If we get that, I am very confident about our chances."
