Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has announced that he will wait until after the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) to make a decision about his international cricket career.
Tamim opted out of the World Cup due to internal issues with team management and captain Shakib al Hasan. He will also miss the home and away series against New Zealand.
Tamim held a meeting with the board president Nazmul Hasan Papon on Monday and decided that he would return to the field with BPL next year and he will announce his decision to retire following the tournament.
“He [Papon] told me to stop and see what transpires till January. I will perhaps start playing cricket from the BPL. You will get a clear idea about what will happen after that," Tamim told media.

He further said he has made up his mind and will announce his decision following the BPL.
"I will never intend or even want to stretch this matter unnecessarily and take additional time as I've told you that I've already made my decision. I've discussed a lot of things with the president and the board; Since they have told me something, I need to respect that as well. We'll wait till January. Let me play the BPL, then we'll have another discussion for sure,” he said.
"He also said that he won't take a decision having only listened to me. He'll listen to everyone and will make some strict decisions. I'll wait for that and see what happens," he added.
