Bangladesh batter Imrul Kayes believes Bangladesh’s lackluster World Cup performance was due to some players' mindset that they are 'auto choice' in the team.
Bangladesh ended their World Cup campaign with an eight-wicket defeat against Australia. Imrul was disappointed with the overall performance of the players and said they should come out of the mindset that they are irreplaceable, urging them to strive for their positions in the team.
“There are players who think we are confirmed players. So our spot is confirmed in the team. There is no one without us. They have that mentality. They are careless. It's not right for me to talk about these things,” said Imrul during a live session with Cricfrenzy.

Imrul stated that the dynamics of the national team have made significant changes compared to earlier times. He also opined that there were less 'auto choices' or 'confirm players' stigma during his tenure.
“'When I was playing (in the national team), I knew there were three other players sitting behind me. If I don’t perform, I will be kicked out at any time. Now I don't know if the current players are conscious about it. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be same problem in nine matches in a row.” he added.
Tigers had a dismal performance in their World Cup campaign as they lost seven out of nine matches. However, the Tigers made a flying start to the tournament defeating Afghanistan.
But then Bangladesh lost six matches on trot against England, New Zealand, India, South Africa, Netherlands, and Pakistan.
Bangladesh won the match against Sri Lanka after a terrible 'timed out' fiasco, however, the Tigers lost the next match against Australia.
