Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful has questioned the existence of the same selectors for such a long time in the selection panel; according to him, it’s become monotonous in the selection process. He even expressed interest in becoming a selector if he gets the opportunity.
Ashraful went to India as an analyst of broadcasting channel T Sports as he pointed the finger to Minhajul Abedin Nannu, who has been on the selection panel of the Bangladesh national team for almost an era and has been the chief selector for seven consecutive years.
Before the match against Australia, Ashraful came to the discussion for the 2005 match. In that match, Bangladesh beat Australia for the first time and it’s their only win against the Aussies. Ashraful became the hero by scoring a century in that famous Cardiff match.

Bangladesh’s first superstar came to the media two days before the match and criticized the team selection process. According to him, Bangladesh is not moving forward with any plan for the T20 or ODI.
Suddenly playing foreign players is not 'Ideal,' says Mohammad Ashraful

“A man who has been there for 12 years, will have the same thought process. It (chief selector) is not a long-term position. It can last for three-four years.” Ashraful said about Nannu.
Ashraful, who made his international debut in 2001, is yet to retire from domestic cricket. However, he has said that he will respond if he gets any calls from BCB for the selector position.
"Since I have played cricket for over 26-27 years I would like to be with cricket in future as well. If such an opportunity arises [to become a selector], definitely I will think about it." Ashraful said.
