Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha admitted the Tigers were not able to show their true worth and held himself equally responsible for the poor performance in the World Cup.
Bangladesh got off to their World Cup campaign on a positive note with a win against Afghanistan however, they suffered six straight defeats following that solitary win and crashed out of the tournament.
The coach also stated that the team had high expectations of themselves, which ultimately led to their downfall. He acknowledged that their skills had not deteriorated, but rather their mindset had affected their performance.

“Yeah, I take responsibility as well as anyone in the group because we have disappointed the fans and we disappointed ourselves as well,” said Hathurusingha in the press conference.
“We didn't play our best cricket but the thing is nothing has changed from the first game to now. Only [what] has changed is what's going through between our ears. Our skills haven't gone anywhere. So, I think we put ourselves down by having high expectations. That's the only thing that we can think of, because as you rightly said, we haven't played our best cricket or what we were capable of or we played before coming into the World Cup,” he said.
Hathurusingha mentioned that the team still had a chance to qualify for the Champions Trophy in 2025 and emphasized the importance of securing a win in the next two matches against Sri Lanka and Australia.
“Still the Champions Trophy [qualification] is up for grabs we need to finish high as possible. So, this game has a big impact on that who finish higher,” he added.
