Bangladesh cricket team director Khaled Mahmud Sujon believes Shakib al Hasan could not even give his 10% of his true potential in the World Cup and everyone should be blamed for the World Cup disaster not just him.
Bangladesh got off to their World Cup campaign on a positive note with a win against Afghanistan but they suffered six straight defeats and after that and already crashed out of the tournament.
Following such a dismal show, the Bangladesh captain was heavily criticized by the cricket fraternity, even when he returned to the country to work on batting the all-time best all-rounder was booed by the fans at home.

“Shakib couldn’t even give his ten percent in the World Cup. Maybe that's why he went to Dhaka for training. We know how eager he is to perform. He wants the team to win. The biggest problem is the team not performing, we are not winning. Shakib is not being able to lead from the front as captain like he did as a player in the 2019 World Cup,” said Sujon to the media.
Sujon further stated that Shakib should not be criticized alone and everyone is responsible as a player for the result.
“It is no use blaming Shakib alone. Shakib does not play alone in the team, there are 10 other players. The responsibility of the captain is a little different but as a player, everyone has the same responsibility. When Shakib is batting, he is a batsman and a bowler when he bowls. At the end of the day, all the players have to take the same responsibility,” he said.
“As a captain you have to take that criticism, it's very natural. I think Shakib should not be blamed alone we all are accountable equally. I am also a part of it. That is my failure too. I think we all failed to perform,” he added.
