Bangladesh’s qualification for the 2025 Champions Trophy at stake as the top seven sides at the end of the league stage of the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup will qualify for the Champions Trophy, along with hosts Pakistan, to compete in the eight-team event.

The subject came to light after Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan made comments referencing the Champions Trophy in a press conference, which indicated that he was at least aware that qualification was at stake.

“Let's say you have to be in the top eight if you want to play in the Champions Trophy. There are still three games to go from that spot,” Shakib said in the post-match press conference yesterday.
Bangladesh is currently at number nine in the league stage table with five defeats out of six matches as they have upcoming matches against strong Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia.
Bangladesh still have chance to qualify but these obstacles are very hard to pass.
The qualification system for the 2025 Champions Trophy was approved by the ICC Board in 2021, when the competition was brought back as one of the eight men's global tournaments to be held in the 2024-31 cycle.
