'I'm playing my last World Cup, soon or later I will retire'

Veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad hinted to retire soon from International cricket, reminding that this would be his last World Cup.
The 37-year-old is the most experienced individual after skipper Shakib al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim in the Bangladesh World Cup squad. Recently, he came into the limelight after smashing a hundred against South Africa.
Riyad already announced his retirement from Test cricket and played his last Test against Zimbabwe in 2021 with Bangladesh recording a 220-run win.

"To be honest, I'm playing my last World Cup. It all depends on my body and performance, how long can I take it for the Bangladesh cricket team. But probably soon or later, I have to call off for the international cricket.,” said Mahmudullah to ICC.

Mahmudullah, who made his debut in 2007 considers himself lucky to struck three centuries in the World Cup and another in the Champions Trophy.
“I have been playing for the country for a long time. I made my debut in Bangladesh jersey in 2007. It's been a long time since I played, I feel lucky to have scored four centuries in ICC events,” he said.
Mahmudullah believes that Taskin Ahmed, Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be known as the legends of Bangladesh.
"The cricket show must move on and Bangladesh cricket must move on. And the talent that we have in our dressing room Mustafiz, there will be Shanto, Litton and Miraz, they are the most seniors after us. And probably they will take the lead-up. And they will be legends for Bangladesh cricket team as well." he added.
