Bangladesh faced hat-trick lose in the ongoing India World Cup as host India handed over a seven-wicket defeat to sorry Tigers at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune Thursday.
Star batsman Virat Kohli reached his 48th ODI century and ended the match in style with a six against spinner Nasum Ahmed when he needed three runs to complete his century and India required two more runs to reach a target of 257.
They got there with more than eight overs to spare, finishing on 261-3.
Kohli faced 97 balls, including six fours and four sixes, with this century his third score in excess of fifty in four innings following contributions of 85 and 55 not out in recent pool wins over Australia and Afghanistan.
India openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill got off a flying start while chasing Bangladesh's 256 before pacer Hasan Mahmud managed stop the bashing from the openers as he dismissed the dangerous Rohit with a bouncer to give the Tigers their first breakthrough.
In-form Rohit hit seven fours and a six for his 37-ball 41.
Gill on the other end picked up his first fifty in the ongoing World Cup before Mahmudullah Riyad caught him near the boundary rope after Gill’s 53 runs, Mehidy Hasan Miraz got the wicket.

In the meantime Kohli brought up his 116th score of fifty or more in 285 ODIs and made a 46 runs partnership with Shreyas Iyer.

Iyer was looking good but Miraz-Riyad pair stopped him on 19 as he wanted to hit it over long-on but ended up Riyad’s hand on deep midwicket.

Earlier, Riyad's late show powered Bangladesh to score 256-8 in 50 overs.

Swashbuckling Tanzid scored maiden fifty in 41 balls but departed on 53 runs just after a couple of deliveries, his innings featured five 4's and three sixes while Litton top-scored 66 runs in 82 runs aided by seven boundaries.
Spinner Kuldeep Yadav succeeded to castle young Tanzid where India's quicks had failed by having Tanzid lbw.
Tigers lost the momentum in the middle when they lost two quick wickets of Najmul Hossain Shanto (8) and Miraz (3).
Shanto fell prey to Ravindra Jadeja when he was trapped into an LBW and Miraz was caught behind with an outstanding catch from KL Rahul that reduced Bangladesh to 129-3.
Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals as Litton got dismissed on 137-4, Towhid Hridoy and Nasum played short innings of 16 and 14 runs respectively.
Mushfiqur Rahim scored a crucial 38 runs to help the side cross the 200-run mark.
Jasprit Bumrah, Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj scalped two wickets apiece for India.
