Asalanka heroics power Sri Lanka to 49-run win over Australia

Sri Lanka appointed Kusal Mendis as the new captain of the side following the exclusion of regular captain Dasun Shanaka being ruled out due to an injury.
Shanaka suffered a thigh injury in Tuesday's six-wicket loss to Pakistan, with Chamika Karunaratne approved as a replacement in the squad for the all-rounder.
The 32-year-old will need three weeks to recover from the injury. He is likely to return in the last few matches for the Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan team has faced another setback with fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana’s injury.
Pathirana is expected to be out of action for at least a week due to a shoulder injury, leaving the team with challenges in the fast bowling department.
Sri Lanka is scheduled to take on Australia in a crucial match on October 16 at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
