Bangladesh ODI vice-captain Najmul Hossain Shanto came to the talk after a comprehensive eight-wicket defeat at the hands of New Zealand and blamed the top-order collapse again at the Chepauk in Chennai on Friday.
"We didn't bat well, same as the last match. We need to improve in the first 15 overs. There was a bit of extra bounce with the new ball but after that the wicket was quiet. The top order needs to bat more responsibly. It was a good wicket, so we just needed to be a bit more responsible at the start," Shanto said in the post-match interview.
Bangladesh battling with another issue as most of the Bangladeshi batters have changed their batting positions in all the three matches played in the ongoing World Cup.
Losing their preferred position has affected the performance of the batters as Shanto could not explain such a change in the batting order in the world stage. To find out the answer, the left-hander pushed the ball to the court of captain Shakib al Hasan and coach Chandika Hathurusingha.

Shakib sacrificed his number three batting position to Shanto, who justified the spot by scoring 763 runs in the third position.

But that batter played in three matches of the World Cup in two different positions. Despite playing at number three against England, he played at number 4 with Afghanistan and New Zealand.
Towhid Hridoy, who has success in the number five position, also suffering with the bat. The batter who performed well in five had to play in the number seven position in this World Cup, where Hridoy failed in both matches.
Bangladesh management made Mehidy Hasan Miraz a make-shift batter, who also batted in two positions in three matches.
Bangladesh is suffering from such a change in batting order. Shakib's team could not bat well in either of the last two matches.
Shanto could not explain such a change. Although the vice-captain of Bangladesh said that they already know who will bat in which position.
"Coach and captain can say about this [Batting order change]. All of us know who will bat when. But the reason behind it, the captain and the coach can tell more clearly,” at the press conference after the match, Shanto said.
In response to the question of whether the batters are having trouble adapting to the new position in such a change, Shanto said, “To be honest, you have to adapt a little. I think everyone here needs to have that flexibility to bat anywhere at any time. I will not say that it happens suddenly. All batters know. I don't think there's much need to think about it. We try to bat as the captain and coach decide.”
