England won the rain-hit warm-up match against Bangladesh by four wickets but Tigers fought well in their second match on Monday at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, Assam.


Bangladesh started their warm-up games on a good note as they defeated Sri Lanka in their first match by 7 wickets on Friday [29th September].


Bangladesh posted 188 in rain-hit 37 over match, however, after a DLS adjustment it appeared the target 197 in 37 overs for the Three Lions.


Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored highest 74 runs today after his fifty in the first warm-up match against Sri Lanka.


Earlier, Opting to bat first, opener Litton Das failed to make a good start to the innings. He was dismissed for just 5 runs by Reece Topley, who struck again to remove Najmul Hossain Shanto for 2.

Miraz joined hands with Tanzid Tamim and registered a 52-run stand for the third wicket that steadied their innings after the initial blow.

Tanzid, who smashed 84 in the first warm-up match fell short of five runs to score another half-century as he got an inside edge to Mark Wood. He departed on 45 off 44 with seven boundaries and a solitary six.


Mahmudullah Riyad played a knock of 18 off 21 deliveries, before he fell prey to Liam Livingstone while attempting a shot.


Adil Rashid grabbed the prized wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim (8) to add more pressure to the batting line-up.


Bangladesh pacers managed to create an impression as England were given a task of chasing 197 as the Tigers reduced the defending world champions to four down for 107 in the 11th.


But Moeen Ali hit six sixes and two fours for his 39-ball 56 to help guide England to a four-wicket win.



Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman picked up two wickets with the new ball, while his pace partners Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud bowled impressive spells and picked up one wicket each.


Bangladesh play their first World Cup match against Afghanistan on October 7 in Dharamsala before they take on the reigning champions on October 10 at the same venue in tehir second main stage fixture.
