Bangladesh thrashed Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the first World Cup warm-up match at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Tanzid Tamim and Litton Das registered the fifties each to chase down the 264-run target in 42 overs.

Tanzid yet again showed his true worth and rediscovered his form just when Bangladesh needed the most. The left-handed batter scored the highest for the Tigers as he struck 84 off 88 featuring 10 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Another off-form batter Litton got back into action and played 56-ball 61 innings to add a 131-run partnership with Tanzid which bolstered their innings.

Stand-in captain Miraz played a knock of 67 off 64 and Mushfiqur Rahim was unbeaten on 35.

Earlier, Sri Lanka openers Nissanka and Kusal Perera led to a strong start after opting to bat first. Nissanka scored 68 off 64 balls that featured eight boundaries and a six and Kusal Perera, who left the field after feeling discomfort on his shoulder hit 24-ball 34.

Nasum Ahmed gave the breakthrough by removing Kusal Mendis (22) in the 15th over and Mahedi dismissed Sadeera Samarawickrama in the very next next over to take charge of the game.

The duo continued their fine form as Sri Lanka lost wickets in regular intervals.

Sri Lanka's middle-order batsman Dhananjaya de Silva played a significant role in rescuing the team's innings. He scored 55 runs off 79 balls, including a crucial half-century but stand-in captain Miraz overhauled De Silva with a catch to Mahmudullah at long-off.

Mahedi Hasan was the pick of the bowling attack picking up three wickets while Pathum Nissanka top-scored with 68 runs for Sri Lanka.
