Bangladesh's women's cricket team won the bronze medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games today, defeating Pakistan by five wickets in the third-place play-off match.

The team lead by Nigar Sultana Joty held Pakistan to 64 for 9 in 20 overs before achieving the target with ten balls to spare to take bronze at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh's bowlers performed admirably, having previously won silver medals in the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games.

Marufa Akter had one wicket but only gave up two runs in three overs. Shorna Akhter was the most successful bowler, taking three wickets for 16 runs, while Sanjida Akhter took two wickets for 11 runs.

Shorna then contributed with the bat, remaining not out on 14 as the Tigresses reached the mark with five wickets in hand, despite middle-order batting wobble.
