Bangladesh young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib has apologized for his past social media post, stating he had no intention to hurt anyone in the community.

Shakib was under scrutiny following his Facebook posts about women that demeaned women and disregarded the importance of women's rights to education and empowerment.

He has received backlash on social media from many women and they have demanded the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to look into the matter.

BCB’s operations committee chairman Jalal Yunus stated that Sakib was ‘sorry’ for his misogynistic comments.

"From the cricket operations (of BCB), we have spoken to Tanjim Sakib. We had brought into his notice of the Facebook posts he had made. He said that he didn't have the intention to hurt anyone through those posts," Younus said after having met Sakib at the BCB office on Tuesday.

"He took responsibility for the misogynist posts, but said he is not against women. We have told him to be wary and we have relayed to him that BCB will monitor any further posts he makes," 

“He said 'I'm sorry.' He said he would refrain from such posts. He admitted his mistake and said he is not a misogynist. He also said that 'my mother is a woman, how can I be a misogynist?' (Which ideology does he follow, what is his mentality) Of course, it is important to us to monitor. The World Cup is ahead, he is a young boy, young. He has been warned about this,” the BCB official added.
