Former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza in the 2018 Asia Cup had faith in Mehidy Hasan Miraz and referred him to open the innings and after almost 5 years in that same tournament, captain Shakib al Hasan bet on Miraz too. This time, Miraz has shown with an incredible century how extraordinary and incomparable the all-rounder is as a top-order batter.
Bangladesh changed up their tactics after losing their first game against co-host Sri Lanka, promoting right-hander Miraz up the order to open the innings with Naim Sheikh.
Miraz justified the decision by striking seven boundaries before he hurt his left hand while hitting a third six and walked off the field.

The former U19 captain played the best innings of his career. For the second time in his ODI career, Miraz scored a century (112 off 119) with some incredible shots. But in his whole career, most of the time he played in the lower order.

14 hrs agoAfter today’s incredible innings, Miraz urged to play in the top order in the future as he wants to draw attention to Bangladesh Cricket team management for giving him that opportunity.
In the post-press conference, Miraz said he wants to play in the top order, it doesn’t have to be in the opening position though “It's a great opportunity for me. If there is an opportunity in the next match and if I can do well there, I will always get a chance to play in the top order. I may not always play in the opening. But I will get a chance in the top order. It would be good for me if the team management gives me a chance in the top order regularly.”
Miraz and another hero of the game Najmul Hossain Shanto, who also scored a ton (104 off 105) ensured that the Tigers have qualified for the Super Four stage but whether they will go through as group champions or runners-up will depend on Tuesday's result in the match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
The red and green team set to face Pakistan, who have already qualified for the Super Fours from Group A by beating Nepal in their first match and then seeing their clash against India end in a no result due to rain in Pallekele on Saturday.
Miraz was asked about facing Pakistan’s firing fast bowlers like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Miraz replied humbly, “I am not worried about any particular bowler. I just want to play well.'
