Captain Shakib al Hasan said Mehidy Hasan Miraz proved himself after getting promotion at the opening position against a vital match against Afghanistan.
Allrounder Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto smashed centuries before Bangladesh's pace bowlers shared eight wickets to beat Afghanistan by 89 runs in the Asia Cup in Lahore on Sunday.

Shakib praised his bowlers too after Miraz and Shanto set the stage for dominate the Afghans.

“We played very well all-round. It wasn't easy for the fielders to play 50 overs and come and bat, so we were really lucky to win the toss. [Mehidy promotion] He got his chance up the order and proved himself, we always knew he had the ability. We executed our plans really well, the fast bowlers especially bowled their heart out. This wasn't an easy wicket to bowl on." Shakib said after the game.
Miraz hit a 119-ball 112 for his highest ODI score as he got an award for the most sixes in the match, while he got Najibullah Zadran wicket too and named Player of the Match.
"I'm really happy. I think the team management believe in me. It was an excellent wicket, the ball was coming on easy so I just tried to strike through the line. It was an excellent partnership with Shanto." Miraz said in the presentation.
