Former Pakistan cricketer and commentator Ramiz Raja criticized Shakib al Hasan for his comment following the loss against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup.
Shakib had expressed his disappointment over the absence of experienced cricketers like Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das. Raja believed that Shakib's comment could have a demotivating effect on the rest of the team.

“I didn’t like it. In the post-match presentation, Shakib said that Litton and Tamim are missing. Shakib did not say it right. After such comments of the captain, all the teams broke down. They think, we are not trusted, the captain does not trust our skills,” Raja said on his YouTube channel.

Raja stressed the importance of maintaining the team's morale after the loss to Sri Lanka. He suggested that it was crucial to analyze the reasons for the defeat tactically and analytically.
“You have to find out the reason for this loss tactically and analytically. Bangladesh’s next match is against Afghanistan. They have won many good matches against Bangladesh, even at their home ground. The most important thing for Shakib is to keep the mentality of the team in good shape,"
Referring to Bangladesh’s lack of quality all-rounders, he said, ‘Sri Lanka has tough wickets for white-ball cricket. Because here the ball gets stuck. Shakib’s ball was also spinning. Usually, he does not spin the ball much. Another problem for Bangladesh is that they don’t have quality all-rounders. There is no other all-rounder except Shakib," he added.
