Bangladesh's Ebadot Hossain may miss the 2023 ODI World Cup after undergoing surgery in the United Kingdom on Wednesday for an injury that has already pushed him out of the Asia Cup, which begins today.

The 29-year-old went to London early last Monday after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) damage during last month's ODI series against Afghanistan.

Ebadot informed about the operation through a post on his official Facebook account.

“Ebadat is undergoing surgery today. For now it is difficult to say how many months he will be out of the field. We will take action after understanding the type of operation. By tomorrow we will know how long he will be out of the field,” confirmed the BCB chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury to Cricfrenzy.

However, CF understand that the player could well be out of the ODI World Cup in October-November in India.

Ebadot’s ACL injury usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to recover, in many cases it takes more time. Ebadat's chances of playing in the World Cup somehow ended.
