Afghanistan announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup starting at the last week of August in Sri Lanka and jointly hosted by Pakistan.
Hashmatullah Shahidi will captain the side as the Afghans included all-rounder Karim Janat in the ODI squad after six years. Janat played his last match in this format in 2017 against Zimbabwe.
Sharafuddin Ashraf has also been named in the squad, however, Wafadar Momand and Azmatullah Omarzai missed the cut for the Asia Cup.

Gulbadin Naib replaced Omarzai in the format as he was ruled out due to a side strain.
