The Bangladesh cricket team is set to take part in the 2023 Asian Games, which will feature a 20-over format. According to selector Habibul Bashar of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), they are planning to form a young team with the T20 World Cup 2024 in mind.
Bangladesh played a balanced side consisting of young and new players which was led by Saif Hassan in the recent Emerging Asia Cup where the Tigers managed to reach the semi-final.

Apart from the ODI World Cup, the board is also preparing a team ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup which will be hosted in the USA and West Indies.
“We have been trying to give the team a different form since the last T20 World Cup. We are trying to give opportunities to current and future cricketers. The T20 team is being prepared for the next World Cup. Recently our form in T20 is quite good. We started getting some results from the last England series. Not just about the future. The players we have selected (in the Asian Games team), they are in fine form,” said Bashar.
The men's events of Asian Games will begin on 28 September 2023 and the gold medal match will be played on 7 October 2023
“There is no age barrier in the Asian Games, it has been lifted from this year. So we tried to make the team with relatively young cricketers. You have also seen in the emerging team, that some cricketers were experienced. But none of them were senior, except one or two. We tried to do the same in Asian Games,” he added.
