Jasprit Bumrah left an indelible mark on his return to international cricket as India beat Ireland by two runs via DLS method to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series in Dublin on Friday.

India were 47 for 2 in 6.5 overs in chase of 140 runs when rain interrupted the game and eventually forced it to be called off.

The Irish batting order faced a daunting setback, finding themselves at a precarious 59/6. However, the tide turned as Barry McCarthy and Curtis Campher spearheaded a resilient resurgence, forging a gritty partnership that yielded 57 runs off 44 balls for the seventh wicket.

With this, Ireland set a formidable target of 140 runs for India to pursue. The Indian opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad ignited their innings with an explosive start.

Despite stumbling with the loss of two wickets in the opening over post the powerplay, India's momentum was abruptly halted by an untimely rain intervention.

India were two runs ahead at the time that the players went back and the tourists have hence taken a 1-0 lead.
